Celebrities, ambitions and success
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to met yet another celebrity, this time, Tova Borgnine. She visited the facility where I work and was in few words very personable and humble with all the employees and showed very much appreciation for the warmth she received from the people there. I said another celebrity yet, because throughout my life I have met and known celebrities, but I have never been a real fan or gruppie of anyone in particular. One of the lead singers of the important Salsa band "El Gran Combo" was married to my auntie and the most memorable memory I have from my childhood was when el Gran Combo will go to my house in Christmas for a "parranda" -imagine a X-mas carroll, but with tropical music like the one with trumpets, bongos and so on-, one of my brothers used to work for a TV station and I met different actors and actresses in more than one ocassion, some even visited my mother house. My family was heavily involved in politics and we had some what a close relationship with the mayor of the city when I was growing up and when I was in college I had the opportunity to break bread with the now known 'she-wolve' Shakira in one of her visits to the island. These are just a few of my experiences, celebrities have never had a influence in me -well Menudo is a different story- I think that they sacrifice so much for what they have and in more than one instance I have said to my self is not worth it (being able to gain and loose 2lbs without nobody notucing is a plus no matter how you see it). Mrs. Borgnine she was wearing a tailored suit and a beautiful Hermes Birkin bag -she placed the bag in the floor while signing authograps and I almost flipped- and then in the evening I was lucky enough to participate in a banquet where she was the guest of honor and for some strange reason, the GM asked me and another five associates to share the dinner table with her. It was interesting to hear about her experiences and how proud she is about her products and the success they have in countries like Germany and UK. I was so intrigued about her, that decided to research her life. After googling her and reading multiple articles, a general conclusion is evident, Tova is her own brand, her image is what sells products. How she will not, she is  absolutely georgeous. I hope that when I am even 40 ( I am 31, she is 69)  I smell as pretty and as elegant as she does. Mrs. Borgnine  took a risk with her company and in todays market her company sells close to 20 millions in a year. This is where I would love to be... not necesarily a celebrity but my own brand my own image and the reflection of success. It is not necesary to have an entourage to succeed or is  to have strong business sense. I keep telling myself that good taste is not a mistake or a coincidence, is the result of a calculated approach to life when being surrounded by what is defined as beauty is a necessity. I have never being cautivated by celebrities perse...but I understand sacrifice and determination when I see it :)

February 27

New logo, new product selection, happy year!
The last time I wrote in this blog it was the begining of November and we were about to start a new venture in Etsy.com. Today, during the final days of February here we are, almost 400 Etsy sales and the business is thriving. This is refreshing and just a breath of fresh air after a 'oh so dificult 2009'. I am also so excited to write about our new logo. It is not final yet, but it is so georgeous that I could not stop praising it. We collaborated with West Virginian artist Stephanie Fizer and she had designed it. She was amazing understanding my vision. I won't say that it was easy...-I think, I tend to get complicated. In the About Us session in the main website (http://neishasblue.com) we touch breafly the why of the name Neisha's Blue, besides the fact that blue is my all time favorite, the name is for my boy. Neishas Blue is my son, Jose Francisco. I send Stephanie three images to develop the logo: a picture of my boy looking at the camera with a cute hat purchased from another Etsy seller, a hydrangea headband and my classic black and white picture of a baby boy -the one currently in our banner-. From those three and a couple of no's, I am not loving it, I really dont like it...here it is the fantastic new Neisha's Blue logo:

I just love it....hope you do too, because from now on, everything you see with it, is definetly us. What you think?
Have you seen Neisha's Blue lately? We have beautiful products at affordable prices...Welcome to Neisha's Blue!

November 01

Starting our Harvest/X-mas Collection. Check it out!
Yesterday, I added new pictures to the website. I have been working lately 'refreshing' our product selection for the upcoming season. I have as well started to promote in ETSY which I am hopeful will be as succesful as the independent website, we has kicked off our store offering two items for only the $0.20 listing price (plus S+H) Where can you purchase a beautiful velveteen flower clippie or a silk flower clippie for just  $0.20 each, yes only TWENTY CENTS. I think I am losing my mind.
We recently started offering wholesale products and have started a facebook page. If you want to become a fan look for us in facebook under Neisha's Blue Baby Boutique and as a fan you can enjoy up to 15% off  your next order. The page is just starting so we really welcome all fans like you.

So far the clippie selections is limited but unique in all way. My favorite by far is the abundance horn. I was inspired by the harvest season and how it simbolizes prosperity for all. In trouble times all we need is hope and what could help us celebrate the season with a beautiful clippie with crytals simulating fruits?

Then I moved into a pretty and fashionble X-mas tree with a clippie and a velcro version. How appropiate? Also, we have change our clippies packaging  to a gift wrap design. From now on, every clip comes in its own display case with bow and tags no need for additional wrap for the same low cost. ;)

We created as well a turkey clippie, but ours move far from the traditional color of brown and red to a pretty hot pink and yellow and dont want to forget the pretty headband called Holiday in Pink it is just georgeous.

Very soon the second edition of the Neisha's Blue Newsletter will be hot from the press...if you have not yet subscribe to our newsletter I encourage you to do so...you still have chance to win 25% in your next purchase...but you can take advantage of the new customer 10% or by becoming a facebook fan you can enjoy a 15% in your first order. The case in favor Butt Naked Baby Products and why I sell them in my boutique

Fact. Not the cheapeast products in the market, not the most expesive ones either...I can think in plenty others that surpass the Butt Naked baby cost.Fact, they are one of the few products in the market created wihout harsh chemicals and dyes. Did I mentioned that they are made in USA and Canada? Not in China or other unknow places without our health controls.

I first came across a Butt Naked baby diaper balm as a gift in my baby shower. I was hesitant at first. I thought: How that light balm could protect my baby skin? It  felt so different to desitin and A&D.

Don't know how it has protected my baby skin, but it has, maybe is the kaolin or the calendula oil. But my son is almost six months old and he has not had a diaper rash outbreak. Genetics? Maybe. Constant change of soil diapers? True. The fact that he has been breastfeed since day one? A strong possibility. But the reality and the undeniable fact, he of all babies has not had diaper rash in all this six months. Pretty remarkable, make me feel like I am a good mom, even though I don't know why and rationally I understand that having a diaper rash is perfectly normal for babies his age.

Another point...two weeks after he received his second round of shots on his 4th month b-day, he developed a skin rash after MMR vaccine. This is a rare side effect and it manifest as a mild rash case, similar to chicken pox. When I called the pediatrician, she told me to use hydrocortisone. I did, but the skin was not clearing as quick as I wanted -if you ask my husband he will tell that I want results fast and he wont say this in a nice way ;)-. I started combining hydrocortisone with Butt Naked baby butter cream and in a matter of hours his skin started to clear. In two days the rash was gone. I continue to use this combination and his skin is better than ever. Looking finally like a baby skin should look, clear and pure -and cute of course-.

Before picture (after reaction to MMR vaccine)

After (using hydrocortisone with Butt Naked butter cream)

Third point...for the first months on my baby life, he had cradle cap. I started washing his head with Nizoral -a comercial, prescription grade- dandruft shampoo as recomended by our pediatrician. It kind of clear the cradle cap, but he started getting extremelly dry skin in the back of his neck and his back per se. I then started using BNB massage and cradle cap oil and got rid of both, the cradle cap and the dryeness. We also use this oil in his daily massages sessions, instead of mainstream oils that could upset the baby stomach if ingested or irritate eyes if make contact as recommended by experts.

Fourth, my baby seems to have very sensitive skin, before I switched completely to all butt naked brand...I tried Johnson and Johnson, Aveeno, Method and one by one left my boy with dry skin and teary eyes. Currently, I only wash him with the cleansing milk and pour the oatmeal/milk bath in the water, stopped using Nizoral and transitioned to BNb  shampoo. He smell great and his skin is absolutely georgeous. I only use and recommend these products. There is a reason why in 2007 Media Gultch awarded Butt Naked baby products as the "Best Baby and Children products of 2007" and there is a reason why more and more high end boutiques and retail stores like Baby 'R us online carry this line.

This pictures are a peak into my life, cabinet over the diaper changing table with my own collection of Butt Naked baby products and every day items.

I am not blindly endorsing these products.  I am just writting from my experience and how well these natural products have work for my boy.  A disclamer that is found in almost all places, not all products works for every baby. You may want to buy a trial size version of the product before you commit to the regular size.

Now on Neishas Blue Baby boutique you can purchase the Diaper Balm and the Healing Powder 15% off. Also with any purchase of $25 or more you will receive a trial version of a BNB product. Not sure yet? email me at neisha@neishasblue.com with your request to purchase any item of the collection in a trial size for $5.

The tale of a beautiful and unusual bow
One of my employees is going to have a baby girl. I was looking for a dress, but this time I did not have time to sew one for her. I wanted something that was not in the traditional pink and white colors. I went to a store and found a girly and pretty cotton dress in white and orange...more like a white and hot peach. I wanted to combine the dress with a cute headband and started working right away. You need to understand me, all my creating as simple as they sound go thru an extensive design process and I tend to mull in this type of situation, mostly because I want her to love it. I started creating the headband in  white, and the bow was formed with a thicker orange grossgrain ribbon with turquoise detail. If you have not notice yet, I love everything blue... I finished the headband a couple of days ago...I think I nailed the task and the headband looks like it belongs perfectly with the dress.

I really hope she loves this gift....what you think?
